Bag Maintenance

To clean your handmade fabric bag, follow these steps : (if you have a waxed canvas bag with leather , scroll down to the waxed canvas cleaning instructions)
 1. **Spot Cleaning**: Use a damp cloth with a small amount of mild soap (such as dish soap or baby shampoo) to gently clean any dirt or stains. Rub lightly to avoid damaging the fabric.  Dawn dish soap works well for most stains and dawn powerwash for really hard to clean stains. Please test any cleaning agent in an inconspicuous spot on the bag before applying to a noticeable or larger part of the bag.
 2. **Do Not Fully Submerge, Do Not put it in the washing machine. **: Avoid soaking your bag in water, as this can weaken the materials, damage any interfacing, and potentially affect the structure or shape of the bag.
 3. **Avoid Harsh Products**: Do not use bleach, strong detergents, or abrasive cleaners, as they can weaken the fabric or cause discoloration.
 4. **Drying**: Always air dry your bag in a shaded area. Avoid dryers or direct sunlight, which can shrink, fade, or warp the materials.

**Waxed Canvas Bag Cleaning Instructions**

With proper care, your bag will age beautifully and last for years. Please follow these instructions to clean and maintain your bag:

**General Cleaning**

1. **Spot Clean Only**: Waxed canvas is water-resistant and designed to be low maintenance. Do not machine wash, dry clean, or submerge the bag in water.

2. **Shake or Brush Off Dirt**: Use a soft-bristled brush or dry cloth to gently remove loose dirt or dust.

3. **Wipe with a Damp Cloth**: For more stubborn spots, use a damp (not wet) cloth with cold water to wipe the area gently. Avoid scrubbing too hard, as this may remove the wax coating.

**Deep Cleaning (if necessary)**

1. **Use Mild Soap**: Mix a small amount of gentle soap (like Castile soap) with cold water. Dip a soft cloth or sponge into the soapy water, wring it out thoroughly, and lightly wipe the soiled area.

2. **Rinse Carefully**: Wipe the area with a clean, damp cloth to remove soap residue.

3. **Air Dry**: Allow the bag to air dry completely. Never use a hairdryer, heater, or direct sunlight to dry your bag, as excessive heat can damage the wax finish.

**Rewaxing (Optional)**

Over time, the wax coating may wear down in areas with heavy use. To refresh the water-resistant finish:

1. Use a bar or tin of canvas wax (available online or at outdoor gear stores).

2. Rub the wax into the canvas evenly with a soft cloth or your fingers.

3. Use a hairdryer on a low setting to gently melt the wax, helping it absorb into the fabric.

4. Let the bag sit overnight to allow the wax to set.

**Additional Notes**

- **Leather Components**: If your bag has leather accents, clean them with a damp cloth and apply a leather conditioner as needed. Avoid getting wax on the leather.

- **Avoid Chemicals**: Do not use bleach, harsh detergents, or solvents, as they can strip the wax and damage the fabric.

By following these steps, your waxed canvas bag will maintain its rugged charm and functionality for years to come. If you have any questions about care or maintenance, feel free to reach out.
